When should I leave for Changi?

- How early should I get to Changi Airport?
- Three hours before a long-haul international departure and around two and a half for a regional flight is the working assumption this calculator uses. Add time if you are claiming the tourist GST refund, checking oversized baggage, or travelling with young children — each of those has its own queue. Your airline sets the actual check-in cut-off, which for most international flights is 60 minutes before departure.
- Does the calculator account for traffic?
- It uses the upper end of the published transfer time for your area, and applies a further uplift when the drive falls inside a weekday peak window — roughly 7:00 to 9:30 in the morning and 5:00 to 7:30 in the evening. It cannot predict an incident on the expressway, which is why the result is a planning figure rather than a promise.
- Is it different for Terminal 4?
- If you are departing from Terminal 4 the drive is the same — your chauffeur takes you directly to that terminal's departure kerb. The complication with Terminal 4 is transferring to it from the other terminals, which needs a shuttle bus rather than the Skytrain. That only affects connecting passengers, not a departure from home or a hotel.
