About Jurong
Jurong is Singapore's largest western district and one of the country's most ambitious transformation stories. Historically an industrial and petrochemical zone anchored by Jurong Island, the district is undergoing a multi-decade evolution into Singapore's second Central Business District. Jurong Lake District — a 360-hectare development — will deliver Singapore's largest integrated resort outside Sentosa, alongside 100 hectares of green and blue spaces around Jurong Lake. Science Park I and II on the southern edge of the district host over 350 companies in life sciences, environmental sciences, and information technology. The Jurong Innovation District, adjacent to Nanyang Technological University, is Singapore's planned future hub for advanced manufacturing and Industry 4.0.
Journey Times
Jurong is the farthest major destination on our regular airport transfer route at approximately 40 km from Changi Airport, with journey times of 40 to 60 minutes. The route uses the Pan Island Expressway and Ayer Rajah Expressway — Singapore's two primary cross-island arteries — making the route consistent and predictable. Morning rush hour traffic between 7:30 and 9:30am on the AYE approaching Jurong can extend journey times by 15 to 20 minutes. For executives visiting Science Park or NTU, our drivers are familiar with the internal campus layouts and building access points, ensuring precise drop-off without navigation delays.
Key Destinations in Jurong
Jurong's leisure landscape is anchored by Jurong Lake Gardens, Singapore's newest national garden encompassing 90 hectares of waterfront parkland, playgrounds, and event lawns around Jurong Lake. The Chinese and Japanese Gardens heritage sites are being redeveloped within this framework. Science Centre Singapore, next to the lake, offers interactive exhibitions on science and technology. Jurong Bird Park, now relocated to Mandai Wildlife Reserve in the north as part of the Mandai wildlife hub, has been replaced by the Bird Paradise attraction. The upcoming Jurong Lake District integrated resort will add a major entertainment and hotel complex to the western precinct.
Corporate & Event Venues
Jurong hosts some of Singapore's most strategically important corporate campuses. Science Park I and II are home to leading biomedical companies including Becton Dickinson, Roche, Abbott Laboratories, and Singapore's Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). Jurong Island, accessible via the Jurong Island Highway, is the operational base for ExxonMobil, Shell, BP, and over 100 energy and chemical companies. The Jurong Innovation District adjacent to NTU accommodates Bosch, Siemens, and several advanced manufacturing firms in custom-built facilities. Jurong East's International Business Park serves as the western headquarters of companies including Hewlett Packard, Canon, and Sony.
Visitor Tips
Jurong is a sprawling district — confirm your specific destination (Science Park address, NTU faculty building, Jurong East tower name) with REI Rental at booking so your driver can plan the most efficient route. Science Park's internal road system can be confusing for first-time visitors; our drivers know the cluster numbers and building access gates. For dining, Jurong Point and Westgate malls in Jurong East offer the most comprehensive food court and restaurant options in the west. The upcoming Jurong Lake District development means road changes are ongoing — our drivers update their routes accordingly.
