About Sentosa
Sentosa Island is Singapore's dedicated resort and leisure destination — a 5 km island connected to the mainland by the Sentosa Gateway road, the Sentosa Express monorail from HarbourFront, and a cable car system. The island is home to Resorts World Sentosa, which encompasses Universal Studios Singapore, S.E.A. Aquarium, the casino, six hotels, and a conference centre. The southern beaches — Siloso, Palawan, and Tanjong — are Singapore's only beach destinations, lined with resort hotels, beach clubs, and water sports facilities. The western hillside hosts Sofitel Sentosa, Capella, and several bungalow-style villas, offering seclusion without sacrificing proximity to the entertainment cluster.
Journey Times
Sentosa is approximately 35 km from Changi Airport with typical journey times of 40 to 55 minutes by private vehicle. Our transfers use the Sentosa Gateway — the toll road that allows direct private vehicle access to the island — bypassing the need for the Sentosa Express monorail at HarbourFront. This door-to-door route is significantly more convenient than public transport for guests with luggage. Weekend afternoon traffic approaching Vivocity and the HarbourFront interchange can add 10–15 minutes. During Resorts World Sentosa major events, advance booking is essential as the island access road can back up significantly.
Key Destinations in Sentosa
Sentosa's entertainment offering is the densest on any single island in Southeast Asia. Universal Studios Singapore features 28 rides and attractions across seven themed zones. S.E.A. Aquarium houses over 100,000 marine animals across 50 habitats. Adventure Cove Waterpark provides a full-day family attraction. The three Sentosa beaches are lined with beach clubs — Tanjah's, Coastes, and Siloso Beach Bar among the most popular. Capella Singapore's The Knolls restaurant is one of Singapore's most scenic dining venues. The cable car from Mount Faber offers aerial views over Keppel Harbour and the southern islands.

Sentosa hosts Singapore's largest integrated resort conference and events facilities at Resorts World Sentosa's hotel complex, including the Resorts World Convention Centre which accommodates up to 35,000 delegates. Major international conferences and product launches regularly use RWS as a venue. Capella Singapore is a popular choice for high-level corporate retreats and private executive dinners. Several multinational companies maintain executive meeting facilities within the Sentosa Cove residential and marina precinct on the island's eastern tip.
Visitor Tips
Sentosa's roads within the island are compact and the Bukit Manis, Palawan, and Tanjong Beach areas have limited vehicle circulation. Communicate your specific resort or beach club destination to your REI Rental driver when booking so the pickup zone is confirmed in advance. Check-out morning traffic exiting the island via Sentosa Gateway between 9am and 11am can be slow on weekends and public holidays — allow an extra 20 minutes for airport transfers on these days. For beachside restaurants in the evening, the complimentary Sentosa Beach Shuttle bus runs every 10–15 minutes from Beach Station.
