Event transport
Mid-Autumn Festival
Mid-Autumn is a dinner-and-lanterns evening rather than a multi-day event, which concentrates all the transport demand into a few hours. Restaurant bookings across the island land in the same window, and the lantern displays at Gardens by the Bay and in Chinatown draw crowds that make parking near either effectively impossible.

What transport is actually like
The evening peak is short and sharp: roughly six to eight o'clock outbound to dinner, then a second wave towards the lantern displays. Chinatown's streets narrow with festival stalls, and the approach to Gardens by the Bay backs up along the Bayfront. Getting a car afterwards, in the dark, with grandparents and children in tow, is the part people underestimate.
How to plan it
Book the return leg at the same time as the outbound one. A three or four hour disposal block covering dinner and the lantern walk usually costs less than two separate transfers plus the wait in between, and it removes the part of the evening that actually goes wrong. For a multi-generation group, choose the vehicle on total seats plus walking ability — a drop-off closer to the display is worth more than a shorter fare.

Common questions
- Where can a car drop off for the Gardens by the Bay lantern display?
- Your chauffeur uses the Bayfront-side drop-off points and will take the least congested approach on the night. Tell us if anyone in the party has limited mobility and the driver will position as close to the entrance as the traffic marshals allow.
