Event transport
National Day
National Day closes large parts of the Marina Bay waterfront and puts a very large crowd in one place at one time. Whether you are attending the parade, watching the flypast from a restaurant, or simply trying to cross town that evening, the day rewards planning and punishes improvisation.

What transport is actually like
Roads around the parade venue and the waterfront close well before the ceremony begins and reopen in stages afterwards. Rehearsal weekends in the preceding weeks bring smaller versions of the same closures, which catches people out because the date is not the parade date. After the fireworks the entire crowd moves at once and the MRT absorbs most of it, but the surface roads out of the bay stay heavy for over an hour.
How to plan it
If you are attending, agree the pickup point with your chauffeur before you go in — mobile reception in a crowd that size is unreliable and a pre-agreed corner saves twenty minutes of walking in circles. If you are simply moving across town, route around the bay rather than through it, and add half an hour. Airport transfers on the day itself are unaffected as long as they do not route through the closure zone, which your driver will handle.

Common questions
- Will road closures affect my airport transfer on National Day?
- Only if your pickup or drop-off sits inside the closure zone around the waterfront. Journeys between Changi and addresses outside that zone run normally. Give us the exact address at booking and the routing is handled before the day.
